Our terroirs
Our plots

The Sancerre vineyards are renowned for their exceptional terroirs.
Our estate has 12 hectares of vines divided into 19 parcels. The majority are located on the communes of Sury-en-Vaux and Maimbray.
This diversity means that we have a wide range of geologies and terroirs to work with.
80% of our Sancerre Blanc plots are planted on Kimmeridgian clay-limestone terroirs known as “Terres Blanches” on a sector to the west of the appellation. These wines require a great deal of patience in that maturing is the secret behind the unique and incomparable finesse of a Sancerre white wine.
The remaining 20% are on limestone terroirs or so-called Caillottes, mostly located in the centre of the appellation. The wines from here are expressive from a very early point in the maturing process, with wonderfully powerful minerality.
For our Sancerre Red and Rosé, the terroir is clay-limestone. The soil is ochre-coloured because it contains iron. Wines from these terroirs offer exceptional aromatic expression.
With respect to this range of geological features and the different exposures and ages of our vines, all our wines are vinified on a plot-by-plot basis.
