Sancerre

Vines have been grown in Sancerre since ancient times, but our vineyard really came into its own in the 12th century thanks to the Augustinian monks of Saint Satur and the Counts of Sancerre.
Most of the red wine produced was Pinot Noir. The Sancerre region suffered the terrible phylloxera episode (parasitic aphids that attack the roots of the vine), which destroyed the entire vineyard at the end of the 19th century.

3,000 HECTARES ON 14 COMMUNES

Our vineyard

After this episode, the winegrowers decided to replant the Sauvignon Blanc grape variety, which seemed well adapted to the geology and climate of the region.
The work carried out by our forefathers over several decades has led to the development of Sancerre. The Sancerre AOC was created in 1936 for Sancerre Blanc and in 1959 for Sancerre Rosé and Sancerre Rouge.
Today it covers just over 3,000 hectares on 14 communes.
