Château La Rabotine

« The emotion of an historic site at the heart of the estate »

History

Château La Rabotine is located on the commune of Sury-en-Vaux.
It was bought by my grandparents and is located at the heart of the best terroirs in the village!

The château itself was built around 1600 by Louis Rabotin, a village Notary. He also owned the “La Rabotine” vineyard. The property remained in the Rabotin family until 1760.

From 1760, it belonged to Antoine Grangier, who was also a Notary. He had 6 daughters and one son (a priest).
During the French Revolution, priests were persecuted. The Grangier sisters decided to hide 2 priests for over 2 years in their home. They became famous in the region for their courage.
The last of the Grangier sisters died in 1830. The château was subsequently rented out to several Notaries until 1921.

Château la Rabotine. An authentic location

Our emblem

In 1960, my grandparents bought Château La Rabotine. They didn’t have much money to maintain the building. Back then, the fields and land were more valuable than the castle and they were forced to sell it.

In 2010, we had the superb opportunity to buy it back.
The estate is now whole and circle is complete.

For me, this place represents Time, Meeting, Conviviality and Serenity.
In 2021, Château La Rabotine became the estate’s emblem in tribute to my grandparents.
